Cheerleaders embrace change and gear up for new year
An integral part of the Carencro High School cheerleaders' success each year in the fall, is their work in the spring and summer time.
This summer, the cheerleaders attended SCA camp at McNeese State University in Lake Charles. The team received first place in home dance, second place in home cheer, and most spirited award.
Along with the annual changes in leadership on the team, the overall structure has undergone a significant makeover.
The squad has gone from existing as three separate squads (varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen) to becoming one consolidated unit for this year.
“I think it is better having one big squad then three different ones. We all practice together and have more fun. We can all work together and teach chants and dances instead of teaching one squad, then another one,” Danella Nolan, Lieutenant said.
