Keystones becomes part of freshman curriculum
Sometimes the most difficult task for incoming freshmen to endure is the transition from middle school to high school; Keystones, Carencro High School's new addition to the freshman curriculum, intends to ease that acclimation.
Keystones was developed as a part of the small learning community program, and is based on the research of student needs,” assistant principal Matthew Harman said.
The course, influenced by the book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, is only offered to first time freshmen and is designed to endow students with the necessary characteristics and qualities that are needed to be successful in life after high school.
“Where implemented, a dramatic increase in student performance and wellness was found,” stated Harman.
There are extremely high hopes for this course, but only time can reveal the results of this curriculum's efforts.
