Lady Bear basketball begins a new path

The girls basketball team is in uncharted territory so to speak as the 2005-2006 season approaches.

New head coach Albert Hartwell will rely on a few returning players and a wealth of coaching experience to take his Lady Bear team through a successful season and into the playoffs.

The team has always had that goal of success in the regular season and playoffs under previous head coach Rhonda McCullough. This year with Hartwell's style of coaching and play, they will likely be taking a different path to get to that same goal in the end.

Hartwell's experience as a head coach in other successful programs around the state will be called upon often as the team waits to see leaders emerge from a group of players that are not yet recognized as such.

One of Hartwell's goals for the team is to have the teams that they play have fear of the Carencro Lady Bears' basketball team.

The team has been working since the beginning of the school year on strength and endurance and has continued while organized practice has been underway since October 3.

Veteran senior players Chatra Carter, Kiarra St. Julien, and Desiree Pilette have been there to carry the brunt of the grueling preseason practices.

Senior Porsha Vallo and junior Chincie Mouton will look to play major roles for the team and carry the workload after they complete their season as members of the volleyball team.
