Boys basketball seeing success

The Carencro Bears are looking good for heading into the heart of the 2005-2006 basketball season.
The Bears are currently 8-3 after losing a home game in front of a packed house to Northside.
The team has fared well thus far in tournament play as they finished second in the Notre Dame Tournament and third in the Lafayette High Mid-South Tournament.
According to head coach Christopher Kovatch, the team seems to be coming along.
“We do some good things, but we some times make mistakes that really hurt us as a result of being lazy.” Kovatch said.
“If, and only if, we become consistent and play 32 minutes of defense we can be a dominant team,” Kovatch added.
La'Ryan Gary is leading the team in points-per-game. He also broke Derrick Woods' school record of 31 point in a single game by scoring 38 points against Cecilia.
Gary has double-doubled in scoring and rebounds in every game the team has played.
“Also, Wayland Guillory has really started to pick up on the floor for the team and has been more consistent by taking the ball to the hole and rebounding well,” Kovatch said.
In the last few games, Guillory and Gary have both double-doubled in points and rebounds.
The team will be playing many great teams before Christmas at the Central Tournament in Baton Rouge including Istrouma, Redemptorist, Denham Springs, and Central.
After Christmas the team will participate in the Sunkist Shootout, where they will face teams like the two-time 5A State Champions Brother Martin, Ellender, Christian Life and more.
